Softball Recap: Washington Gets the Win

Washington proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by six) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Drew Charter 14-13. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against Drew Charter back in August, they had to take a 19-14 loss.

Maukayla Bell was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Emyiah Harris was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Washington's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Drew Charter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington will head out to challenge KIPP Atlanta Collegiate at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.14 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Drew Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Columbia at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Drew Charter's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 14 runs per game this season.
