Football Recap: Mountain Valley Comes Up Short at Home Against Freeport + How To Watch

Mountain Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost to Freeport at home by a 31-14 margin on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Blake Small threw for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Diquari Thompson was his top target, picking up 72 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Colton Gallant rushed for 36 yards.

Freeport was led to victory by Andrew Thomas and Samuel Willard. Thomas rushed for 119 yards and one TD on only 13 carries, while Willard rushed for 22 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Mountain Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 42-0 loss against Winthrop on the 11th. As for Freeport, they have also already played their next contest, a 21-14 victory against Medomak Valley on the 12th.
