Softball Recap: Norfolk Comes Up Short

Norfolk fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Omaha Westside on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Taya Frederick spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Norfolk saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenzie Zerbie, who went 1-for-4 with one run.

Norfolk has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season. As for Omaha Westside, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-5.

Norfolk has already played their next game, a 12-3 win against Columbus on the 30th. As for Omaha Westside, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 23-0 defeat against Millard North on the 30th.
