Basketball Recap: Bradshaw Christian Takes a Loss

Bradshaw Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 74-22 loss at the hands of the Union Mine Diamondbacks. The The Pride were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-12.

Despite the loss, Bradshaw Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gianna Watkins posted 11 points.

Leading Union Mine to victory were Adriana Cavallaro and Kyra Wooden. Cavallaro went 7 for 12 on her way to 20 points and four steals, while Wooden went 7 of 15 to rack up 18 points along with eight boards and three steals. Those 20 points gave Cavallaro a new career-high. Eliza Hodnett was another key player, going 5 of 11 en route to 10 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Bradshaw Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Union Mine, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Argonaut the next time they take the court. Union Mine will head out to face Argonaut at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Bradshaw Christian will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
