Football Recap: Patton Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After soaring to 31 points the game before, Patton was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a 56-7 loss at the hands of the R-S Central Hilltoppers. The Panthers have struggled against the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Patton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jet Chatman rushed for 124 yards while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.

R-S Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rylan Holley, who rushed for 160 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 133 yards and two TDs on only ten passes. Holley's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Another player making a difference was Jakis Smith, who rushed for 108 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

Patton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for R-S Central, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Coming up, Patton will challenge West Caldwell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for R-S Central, they will square off against East Burke at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
