            Softball Preview: Gering Bulldogs vs. Polk County Slammers        
        
		
        
        
            The Gering Bulldogs will take on the Polk County Slammers in a tournament  on Saturday. Gering is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6  runs per game  this season.
Gering fell victim to Kearney and their airtight pitching crew  on Friday. They lost  13-0 to the Bearcats. Considering the last time the Bulldogs couldn't score was  back in August, the team can't take the result too hard.
 Gering saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Jacelyn Brown, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with one  double.
 Meanwhile, Polk County was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight  loss. They fell  10-5 to Blue River. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
 Polk County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Gering, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging  on Saturday. Gering hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season,  having  averaged 0.9  home runs per game. However, it's not like Polk County struggles in that department as   they've been averaging  an even more impressive 0.4  home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
 Everything went Gering's way against Polk County when the teams last played  back in September of 2024, as Gering made off with  an  11-1 win. Do  the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Slammers turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
