Soccer Recap: Athenian Comes Up Short

Athenian managed to slip by Bentley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Owls came up short against the Phoenix on Friday, falling 3-0. Athenian have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Athenian suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 11-3. As for Bentley, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2.

Athenian and Bentley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Owls will challenge Gateway at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (3 vs. 27). Meanwhile, Bentley (ranked seventh) will meet Averroes (ranked 50th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
