Basketball Recap: West Branch Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mount Union

West Branch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Mount Union Trojans, falling 54-32. One positive for the Warriors, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Mount Union had a senior duo take command as Maddie Dimoff dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds and Cailyn Skopic went 8 of 13 on her way to 20 points along with five assists and four steals. Those 16 boards gave Dimoff a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Syneira Cox, who posted seven points and ten rebounds.

West Branch's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Mount Union, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Branch will welcome Blacklick Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Blacklick Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season. As for Mount Union, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Claysburg-Kimmel at 7:15 p.m. Mount Union has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
