Soccer Game Preview: Avenal vs. Caruthers

The Avenal Buccaneers will face off against the Caruthers Blue Raiders at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Avenal's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Avenal is headed into Friday's following a draw, the team's first since November 22. Neither they nor Farmersville could gain the upper hand last Saturday so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Avenal's goal came courtesy of Sophia Aguilera, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Caruthers). They blew past Sierra 7-1 two weeks ago. Considering the Blue Raiders have won four matches by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

With that draw, Avenal's record moves to 5-3-2. As for Caruthers, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.
