The Yutan-Mead Patriots will head out to challenge the Ralston Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Yutan-Mead's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Ralston's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Yutan-Mead nor Fort Calhoun made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Patriots fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 3-2.

Jersey Siske spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jordyn Campbell made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Ralston had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Platteview on Saturday.
Makenzie Macrander made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Macrander was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Maddie Ochsner was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 14 matchups. Maddy Vukov was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Ralston hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
Yutan-Mead's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 17-5. As for Ralston, their record now sits at 18-6.
Yutan-Mead skirted past Ralston 4-3 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
