Softball Game Preview: Duchesne/Roncalli vs. Elkhorn North Wolves

Duchesne/Roncalli will square off against the Elkhorn North Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Duchesne/Roncalli has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Elkhorn North will arrive with three straight victories.

Duchesne/Roncalli lost 14-2 to Douglas County West on Monday.

Duchesne/Roncalli saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myla Downing, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Elkhorn North hadn't done well against Bennington recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wolves had just enough and edged out the Badgers 4-2.

Paige Asher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Naomi Cameron, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Maxell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Elkhorn North's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Duchesne/Roncalli, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.
