Basketball Recap: Murrieta Valley Comes Up Short

Murrieta Valley suffered their biggest defeat since December 4th on Monday. They came up short against the Scripps Ranch Falcons, falling 57-36. The contest marked the Nighthawks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Scripps Ranch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Katrina Purcell, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Clare Valentine, who posted six points along with nine assists and seven boards.

Murrieta Valley's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Scripps Ranch, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Murrieta Valley will host Great Oak at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Scripps Ranch, they will take on Victory Christian Academy in a tournament on Thursday. Scripps Ranch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.
