Basketball Game Preview: Poly Bears vs. Heritage Patriots

Poly is 5-0 against Heritage since December of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Poly Bears will venture away from home to take on the Heritage Patriots at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Poly lost to Valley View at home by a 60-46 margin.

Despite the loss, Poly saw an underclassman step up: freshman Abby Folsom went 7 for 10 on her way to 20 points. Folsom's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Murray, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Heritage has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a 87-40 loss at the hands of Rancho Christian. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Eagles are ranked 17th).

Poly's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.

Poly took their victory against Heritage when the teams last played back in February of 2020 by a conclusive 53-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poly since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
