Basketball Game Preview: Jay Mustangs vs. Taft Raiders

The Jay Mustangs will challenge the Taft Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

After dropping their season opener at home, Taft is headed out to face a Mustangs team ready to give their home crowd a win. Jay fell 67-59 to Madison on Saturday.

Jay might have lost, but man, Alijah Hubbard was a machine: he shot 50% from the field to rack up 28 points and seven rebounds. Adyn Rodriguez was another key player, putting up seven points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Taft was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 65-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Weslaco.

Everything came up roses for Jay against Taft in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 74-40 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
