High school girls basketball rankings: Conway of Arkansas uses 17-1 start to earn spot in this week's MaxPreps Top 25

Wampus Cats coming off tournament title at Sandra Meadows Classic in Texas.

For the second time in two weeks, No. 1 and No. 2 in the MaxPreps Top 25 high school girls basketball rankings will square off. Only this time, No. 1 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) is the hunted and No. 2 Ontario Christian (Ontario, Calif.) is the hunter.

The two met Dec. 21 in Phoenix in the final of the Nike Tournament of Champions with Mitty pulling off a convincing 59-34 victory over the Knights. The rematch is set for Saturday at Carondelet (Concord, Calif.) as part of the Sabrina Ionescu 20 Showcase.

Elsewhere, No. 17 Conway (Ark.) is one of two new teams in this week's rankings after running through the field at the Sandra Meadows Classic in Texas. The Wampus Cats (17-1) downed previously-ranked Boswell (Fort Worth, Texas) 44-40 in the title game. Emerie Bohanon earned MVP honors and Samyah Jordan was named defensive MVP.

Preseason No. 1 Etiwanda (Calif.) re-joins the rankings at No. 25 after a big win over No. 10 Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.) 69-56 at the SoCal Holiday Prep Classic. Tournament MVP Aliyahna Morris (18 points), Grace Knox (25 points) and Shaena Brew (10 points) all played key roles for the Eagles in the victory.

The Monarchs return to the floor Friday against St. Joseph (Santa Maria) and then Saturday in a rematch with No. 2 Ontario Christian.



2. Ontario Christian (Ontario, Calif.)

Steamrolled four opponents post-Nike Tournament of Champions, averaging just under 100 points per game. Kaleena Smith had 30 points and freshman Sydney Douglas added 27 in a 101-20 win over Grand Terrace.

3. Morris Catholic (Denville, N.J.)
Record: 6-0 | Last week: 3
Anastasia Bonfante had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Jacqueline Edelman scored 17 with 14 boards and Morgan Fulston added 10 and 13 as the Crusaders bear Saddle River Day 60-42 in the West Orange Holiday Showcase.

4. Hebron Christian (Dacula, Ga.)

The Lions have reeled off three straight since their loss to Langston Hughes (Fairburn), including an 89-44 win over Woodland as Ja’kerra Butler led the way with 26 points and 10 rebounds.

5. Bradley Central (Cleveland, Tenn.)

The win streak is at 24 after the Bearettes bested Springboro (Ohio) 57-54 on Monday for the Junior Orange Bowl title.

6. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)
Record: 15-2 | Last week: 9
Iowa commit Addison Deal had 20 points and 10 rebounds while Kaeli Wynn added 18 and 12 as the Monarchs beat Windward (Los Angeles) 65-49 to win the top division at the West Coast Jamboree.

7. Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.)
Record: 7-1 | Last week: 10
Zhen Craft had 22 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in a 57-43 win Saturday over Westtown (West Chester, Pa.). Qandace Samuels added 17 points in the victory.



8. Bishop Ireton (Alexandria, Va.)

The Cardinals return to action Friday against The Academy of the Holy Cross (Kensington, Md.).

9. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.)
Record: 13-0 | Last week: 11
Eleven of Sierra Canyon's 13 wins have come by 20 points or more, including each of the last five.

10. Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.)
Record: 10-1 | Last week: 7
All-tournament selections Jayla Jackson had 22 points and Autumn Fleary added 19 in the loss to the Etiwanda.

11. Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers, Ind.)
Record: 15-0 | Last week: 19
Addison Van hoesen scored the game winner off an inbound lob pass as the Royals handed Lawrence Central a 52-50 loss in the Hall of Fame Classic championship game. They were led by 15 from Kennedy Holman, 12 from Kayla Stidham and 10 from Maya Makalusky.

12. Lawrence Central (Indianapolis, Ind.)

Lola Lampley led the Bears with 18, Laila Abdurraqib added 16 and Jaylah Lampley chipped in 12 in the loss to No. 11 Hamilton Southeastern.

13. Red Bank Catholic (Red Bank, N.J.)

The Caseys dropped a 68-60 decision to Arrowhead (Hartland, Wis.) at the Viking Invitational.



14. Princess Anne (Virginia Beach, Va.)

MVP Micah Ojo continues to dominate, pouring in 36 with 19 rebounds in a 93-57 win over Grace Christian (Sanford, N.C.) on Monday at the John Wall Holiday Invitational.

15. Johnston (Iowa)

Back in action Friday against Ankeny Centennial (Ankeny).

16. Incarnate Word Academy (St. Louis, Mo.)
Record: 7-0 | Last week: 15
Peyton Hill has 24 points as the Red Knights tied the national record for consecutive wins at 138 with a 65-47 win over Lift for Life Academy (St. Louis) on Saturday in the Visitation Christmas Tournament. They could break the mark set by Central Plains (Claflin, Kan.) on Jan. 7 against St. Dominic (O'Fallon).

17. Conway (Ark.)

The Wampus Cats won five games in three days, including a 74-64 double overtime semifinal win over St. Francis (Alpharetta, Ga.), for the Sandra Meadows Classic title.

USC commit Jazzy Davidson went off for 34 points as the Cavaliers beat Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy (Dallas, Texas) 63-61 in overtime in the POA Holiday Classic final. Davidson was 13 of 22 from the field, including 5 of 9 from 3-point territory.

19. Grandview (Aurora, Colo.)

After an extended break, the Wolves are back in action Saturday against Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch).

The Bulldogs won the Francis Pulley Bracket title beating Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.) 77-58 at the John Wall Holiday Invitational. Georgia commit Meghan Yarnevich scored 25 in the championship game and Ivanna Manyacka joined her on the all-tournament team.

21. Pewaukee (Wis.)

Earned a bounce-back 66-36 win over Perkiomen Valley (Collegeville, Pa.) on Monday after an 85-49 loss to Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) at the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational.

22. Purcell Marian (Cincinnati, Ohio)

Dee Alexander had 23 points and 12 rebounds as the Cavaliers beat Cooper (Union, Ky.) 72-55.

23. Ridgeline (Millville, Utah)

Duke commit Emilee Skinner dropped 26 points and 10 rebounds in a 61-31 win over Sky View (Smithfield) on Saturday.

24. Lyons (LaGrange, Ill.)

Nora Ezike took MVP honors as the Lions took third place in the Montini Tournament.

25. Etiwanda (Calif.)

Outscored Sidwell Friends 34-24 in the second and third quarters of the SoCal Holiday Prep Classic championship game.
