Softball Recap: Chariton Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Chariton had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Centerville Big Reds/Redettes 9-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-4 last Monday.

Chariton pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Centerville, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Coincidentally, Chariton and Centerville will both be playing Davis County the next time they take the field. The Big Reds/Redettes will host the Mustangs on Friday, while the Chargers will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
