Soccer Recap: Reedley Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Reedley hasn't lost a match since December 13th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. They never let the Mt. Whitney Pioneers onto the board and left with a 4-0 win. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while the Pioneers are ranked 761st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Reedley hit Mt. Whitney with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kimberly Garcia (2), Alyssa Torres, and Kendra Escobedo.

Reedley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those five contests. As for Mt. Whitney, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6-1.

Reedley and Central will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. on December 27th. As for Mt. Whitney, they will be taking part in a tournament against Chowchilla at 10:15 a.m. on Friday.
