Soccer Recap: Santa Clara Has No Trouble Against Cupertino

Santa Clara kept a clean sheet against Cupertino on Friday. Everything went their way against the Cupertino Pioneers as they made off with a 5-0 win. Given the Bruins' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Pioneers are ranked 507th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Santa Clara hit Cupertino with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Reiko Yoshimura (2), Rylee Alas (2), and Jaydnn Hagberg.

Santa Clara has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-1-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those five matchups. As for Cupertino, they moved to 3-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Santa Clara will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Homestead at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Homestead's last five games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
