Football Game Preview: Elk River Elks vs. Monticello Magic + Official Tickets

Elk River has gone 7-1 against Monticello recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Elks will square off against the Magic at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Elk River is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cambridge-Isanti 61-22. 61 seems to be a good number for the Elks as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Levi Harris went supernova, rushing for 104 yards and three scores on only ten carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Ramert, who rushed for 44 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Elk River didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jagger Sasse and David Balisidya.

Meanwhile, Monticello had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.2 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They breezed past the Fighting Saints to the tune of 42-11. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Magic's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Fighting Saints are ranked 55th).

Monticello's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Elk River, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Elk River came up short against Monticello in their previous meeting on October 9th, falling 22-14. Can the Elks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
