Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Harper Diaz and Sam Mora Lead Santana to Victory

There's no place like home for Santana, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They took down the Valhalla Norsemen 50-35 on Friday. For the Sultans, this counts as revenge for the 37-33 win the Norsemen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Leading Santana to victory were Sam Mora and Harper Diaz. Mora posted 19 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Diaz had 11 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mora has scored at least a third of Santana's points. Another player making a difference was Lala Carreno, who earned six points.

When it comes to explaining why Valhalla lost, don't look at Ava Miles. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Miles is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Milana Kasyouhannon was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Santana's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Valhalla, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Santana and Madison will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Santana's defense has only allowed 25.7 points per game this season, so Madison's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Valhalla, they will challenge West Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
