Basketball Recap: River City Comes Up Short

River City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Vanden Vikings and fell 80-25. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 678th, while the Vikings are ranked 121st).

Vanden got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was La'Miracle Lebon out in front who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. Lebon is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games she's played. Jasmine Rochell was another key player, putting up 15 points and five steals.

River City's defeat dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Vanden, they pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, River City will head out to square off against Vacaville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vanden, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-49 loss against Acalanes on the 8th.
