Volleyball Recap: Jacobs Takes a Loss

Jacobs extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 10-14. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Central Rockets. The Golden Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rockets earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Layla Merlin paced Jacobs' offense, picking up nine kills. Merlin got some help from Gianna Coletti and her 19 assists. Hailie Barton controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

As for Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Jacobs since October 12, 2021.

Lexi Yanez was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had seven digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last 16 matches.

Jacobs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Belvidere on the 4th. As for Central, they will face off against Prairie Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
