Softball Recap: Union Grove Extends Winning Streak to Four

Union Grove had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the McIntosh Chiefs. Considering the Wolverines have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sarah Glass looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jada Jackson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Hunter, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Union Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 14 consecutive contests.

Union Grove's record now sits at 15-4. As for McIntosh, they moved to 14-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union Grove will square off against Hampton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for McIntosh, they will host Northgate at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
