Basketball Game Preview: Costa Mesa Mustangs vs. Ocean View Seahawks

Costa Mesa hasn't had much luck against Ocean View recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Costa Mesa Mustangs will look to defend their home court against the Ocean View Seahawks at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Ocean View will be up against a hot Costa Mesa squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Costa Mesa breezed by Garden Grove to the tune of 53-26 on Thursday. The match marked the Mustangs' most dominant victory of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Costa Mesa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Myah Martinez, who posted 13 points and seven steals. Martinez is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emi Kamikihara, who put up 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Costa Mesa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ocean View posted their biggest win since November 21, 2024 on Thursday. They really took it to Saddleback for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-15 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Seahawks had established a 20 point advantage.

Ocean View's win bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Costa Mesa, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
