Baseball Recap: Baldwin Comes Up Short

While it was Baldwin who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Howard who put up more. The Baldwin Braves came up short against the Howard Huskies, falling 12-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Braves have suffered against the Huskies since March 11, 2022.

Caden Thigpen was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Thigpen was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Tyler Baugh was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Rickey Jenks, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Baldwin now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Howard, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Howard beat Baldwin by a score of 15-11 later that day.
