Softball Recap: Highway 91 Comes Up Short

Highway 91 was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ponca Indians. Even though they lost, Highway 91's still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Reese Bruhn and Allie Dirkschneider stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bruhn went 3-for-4 with two runs, while Dirkschneider went 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI. Britney Faltys also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Highway 91's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Ponca, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Highway 91 will welcome Twin River at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Highway 91's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
