Basketball Recap: Ella Moses' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Port Allegany over Cameron County

Port Allegany was the 56-46 winner over Cameron County when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Port Allegany Gators received a blow on Friday as they fell 45-31 to the Cameron County Raiders. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Gators came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while the Raiders are ranked 429th).

Port Allegany's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Moses, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Moses has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brynn Evens, who posted ten points along with five rebounds and five blocks.

Even though they lost, Port Allegany smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive matches.
