Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Columbus

Columbus extended their postseason success on Saturday against Sonoraville. They skirted past the Phoenix 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Blue Devils: when they faced off against the Phoenix on Friday, they had to take a 8-5 defeat.

Carter Dixon tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maddox Anderson, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jamari Blackmon was another key player, earning one run and three stolen bases.

Columbus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Columbus pushed their record up to 18-15 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.2 runs across that stretch. As for Sonoraville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-23 record this season.

As of now, neither Columbus nor Sonoraville have any future games scheduled.
