Basketball Recap: Cathedral Catholic Falls Short of Mission Hills in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cathedral Catholic can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 70-34 loss at the hands of the Mission Hills Grizzlies. The Dons have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Mission Hills found their leader in sophomore Bay Cordova, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine boards. The match was Cordova's seventh in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Izzy Medina, who posted 14 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Cathedral Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Mission Hills, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-8.

Cathedral Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mission Hills, they will square off against La Jolla Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mission Hills' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
