Port Allegany is 8-2 against Northern Potter since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Port Allegany Gators will welcome the Northern Potter Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Northern Potter took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Port Allegany, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Port Allegany needed a bit of extra time to put away Oswayo Valley. They walked away with a 35-27 win over the Green Wave. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Green Wave are ranked 367th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Port Allegany can attribute much of their success to Ella Moses, who posted 12 points and eight boards, and Peyton Gordon, who put up 13 points. Gordon is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Evens, who scored eight points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.

Port Allegany smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Northern Potter came up short against Wellsboro on Saturday and fell 41-34. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Port Allegany's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Northern Potter, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Port Allegany was able to grind out a solid win over Northern Potter in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 53-41. Will Port Allegany repeat their success, or does Northern Potter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
