Baseball Recap: Carlisle Bison vs. Hershey Trojans
Carlisle extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-12. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hershey Trojans. The Bison were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 8-3.
Carlisle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Ream, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
As for Hershey, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.
On Hershey's side, Colton Fultz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. The Trojans are 4-2 when Fultz allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-10 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Blake Umberger was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Bryce Erwin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
