Basketball Recap: Hughson Comes Up Short

Hughson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 41-21 to the Ripon Indians. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1054th, while the Indians are ranked 480th).

Raegan Barstow was Hughson's leading scorer, having posted eight points.

Ripon found their leader in sophomore Ava Hernandez, who posted 12 points. Those 12 points gave Hernandez a new career-high. Tatiana Perez was another key player, putting up seven points and three blocks.

Hughson's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Ripon, they pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hughson will face off against Ripon Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ripon, they will square off against Orestimba at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
