Softball Game Preview: Spalding Jaguars vs. Upson-Lee Knights

Spalding hasn't had much luck against Upson-Lee recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Jaguars will be playing at home against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. One thing working in Spalding's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.

On Saturday, Spalding was able to grind out a solid win over Peach County, taking the game 12-9.

Ra'Khiya Duffie was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Duffie is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Macie Robertson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Spalding kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Meanwhile, Upson-Lee came up short against Whitewater on Tuesday, falling 14-5. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Upson-Lee now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Spalding, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

Spalding took their win against Upson-Lee when the teams last played back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
