Softball Game Preview: Morris Eagles vs. Checotah Wildcats

The Morris Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Checotah Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Morris hasn't scored more than two runs for five games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Prague hit Morris with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell 6-2 to the Red Devils.

Brooke Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Morris saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chyla Marris, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Checotah was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Gibson.

Checotah's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Morris, their loss dropped their record down to 13-15.

Morris came out on top in a nail-biter against Checotah in their previous meeting back in August of 2023, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
