Soccer Game Preview: Santa Cruz vs. Liberty

The Santa Cruz Cardinals will take on the Liberty Hawks in a holiday battle at at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Santa Cruz's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Santa Cruz's offense. They lost 10-0 to Salinas on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 736th, while the Cowboys are ranked 104th).

Meanwhile, Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Soquel, falling 6-0. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by exactly six goals.

Liberty now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Santa Cruz, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4-1.
