Basketball Recap: Livermore Takes a Loss

Livermore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 41-27 bruising from the Newark Memorial Cougars. The Cowboys lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 65-18 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Livermore lost, don't look at Sofia Mahmood. Despite the final result, she posted nine points.

Newark Memorial can attribute much of their success to Sydney Scott, who scored 17 points. That's the most points Scott has posted since back in January of 2024.

Livermore's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Newark Memorial, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11.

Livermore wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-27 defeat against Dougherty Valley on the 21st. As for Newark Memorial, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-25 loss against Washington on the 21st.
