Basketball Recap: Brooklin Kimmons' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sheldon over Monterey Trail

If Sheldon was feeling good fresh off their 60-10 takedown of Elk Grove last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sheldon Huskies took an 86-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monterey Trail Mustangs on Wednesday. The Huskies have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklin Kimmons, who went 9 for 19 on her way to 28 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those seven boards gave Kimmons a new career-high. Saniah Wiley was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Sheldon's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Monterey Trail, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.

Sheldon will face off against Cosumnes Oaks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sheldon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.9 points per game this season. As for Monterey Trail, they will square off against Elk Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
