Basketball Recap: La Sierra Academy Comes Up Short

La Sierra Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 26-19 to the California Lutheran C-Hawks. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 28-25 on January 14th.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead California Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cailin Schroeder, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Schroeder has scored at least a third of California Lutheran's points. Redeemed Ebulu was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

La Sierra Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for California Lutheran, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-11.

La Sierra Academy and California Lutheran could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. La Sierra Academy will square off against United Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Monday down 892 places (1222 vs. 330). Similarly, California Lutheran (ranked 1269th) will meet California School for the Deaf-Riverside (ranked 490th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
