Basketball Recap: Janai Bellinger and Sofia Meer Secure Win for Central

Central hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 44-37 victory over The City School Lions on Wednesday.

Leading Central to victory were Sofia Meer and Janai Bellinger. Meer dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards, while Bellinger dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. Meer has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabrina Chen, who posted four points.

Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-7 record this season. As for The City School, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Mastery Charter Hardy Williams at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for The City School, they will face off against Community Academy of Philadelphia at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
