Basketball Game Preview: Lawndale Cardinals vs. Centennial Apaches

The Lawndale Cardinals will square off against the Centennial Apaches at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Lawndale will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Lawndale is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Inglewood: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lawndale blew Inglewood out of the water with a 65-14 final score. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Lawndale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Telayia Fuller out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Fuller has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalani Pearson, who posted 14 points along with seven boards and six steals.

Lawndale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 21 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Centennial lost 55-33 to Beverly Hills on Friday. The Apaches haven't had much luck with the Normans recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Lawndale is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Everything came up roses for Lawndale against Centennial when the teams last played back in December of 2017, as the team secured a 61-20 victory. Will Lawndale repeat their success, or does Centennial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
