Basketball Recap: Imperial Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Imperial can now relate to. They took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the King/Drew Golden Eagles on Tuesday. The Tigers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Despite the defeat, Imperial saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elynna Jimenez posted 16 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. That was a full 35.6% of the Tigers' points, marking the fourth time in a row Jimenez has put up more than a third of the team's points. Clarissa Davila was another key player, putting up ten points.

Imperial's loss dropped their record down to 23-8. As for King/Drew, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.

Imperial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for King/Drew, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-48 victory against Murrieta Valley on the 5th.
