Softball Recap: Hickman Wins Going Away Against Blair Oaks

Hickman came out on top against Blair Oaks on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Kewpies put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 8-2 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Kewpies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tess Moloney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Mylee McMichael and Dani Spratt did most of the damage at the plate: McMichael went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Spratt went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Spratt is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Madison Taylor also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Hickman and bumps their season record up to 8-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Blair Oaks, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Hickman will take on Camdenton at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Blair Oaks, they will square off against Southern Boone at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
