Baseball Recap: Goshen Gets the Win

Goshen won the last time they faced NorthWood and things went their way on Wednesday too. The RedHawks came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the RedHawks.

Ryen Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Goshen got a big performance out of Spencer Elliott, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Elliott has posted since back in April. Braxton Cline was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Goshen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as NorthWood only posted a batting average of .290.

Goshen's record is now 18-5. As for NorthWood, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-10 record.

Looking ahead, Goshen will be playing in front of their home fans against East Noble at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for NorthWood, they will head out on the road to take on South Bend Saint Joseph at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
