            Baseball Recap: Grace Christian Academy Cougars vs. Westover Patriots        
        
		
        
        
            After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Baconton Charter, Grace Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around  on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  an  8-6  win over the Westover Patriots. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Cougars have posted  since April 11, 2024.
 Aiden Whittaker made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he  struck out nine batters over  three innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. He has been consistent  recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits any time he's  pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

 In other batting news,  Noah Smith and  Oathen Atkinson did most of the damage at the plate:  Smith  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 3-for-5, while  Atkinson  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave  Smith a new career-high in  hits (three).  Landon Temples was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with four  stolen bases.
Grace Christian Academy now  has a winning record of 2-1. As for Westover, their defeat was  their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 0-6.
 Looking ahead, Grace Christian Academy will challenge Brookwood at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for Westover, they will square off against Varsity Opponent at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
