Baseball Game Preview: Rolling Meadows Mustangs vs. Wheeling Wildcats

For the second straight game, Rolling Meadows will face off against Wheeling. The Mustangs will head out to square off against the Wildcats at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Rolling Meadows is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Rolling Meadows took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Wheeling 10-1. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Luke Schneider made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jack O'Callaghan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Quinn Hextall, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Wheeling is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9. As for Rolling Meadows, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.
