Football Recap: Alonta Mccarthy's Menacing Defense Leads Bell over KIPP College Prep + How To Watch

Bell won the last time they faced KIPP College Prep and things went their way on Friday too. The Griffins put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 24-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Griffins.

Bell found their leader in sophomore Marquette Jenkins, who rushed for 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. Those 167 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Jenkins. The team also got some help courtesy of Zonique Landon, who rushed for 103 yards on only 11 carries.

Bell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Bell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Alonta McCarthy, Jorden Carter, and Joseph Green picked up one apiece. Bell got some further help from Turner Simmons: he picked up 2.5 sacks and made three total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Bell now has a winning record of 3-2. As for KIPP College Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Bell will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against McKinley Tech at 6:00 p.m. on October 11. The Griffins will be up against the Trainers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for KIPP College Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against Cardozo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
