Basketball Game Preview: Morse Tigers vs. Scripps Ranch Falcons

Morse hasn't had much luck against Scripps Ranch recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Morse Tigers will challenge the Scripps Ranch Falcons at 5:30 p.m.

Morse is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since December 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Mira Mesa by a score of 44-42. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Scripps Ranch waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Dons 45-43. The Falcons pushed the score to 39-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Dons cut but never quite recovered from.

Morse better keep an eye on Clare Valentine. She was instrumental in Scripps Ranch's win, going 6-for-12 en route to 17 points and six boards. Valentine's afternoon made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ree Ree Davis, who posted eight points and five steals.

Morse's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Scripps Ranch, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.

Morse ended up a good deal behind Scripps Ranch in their previous matchup back in January, losing 62-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Valentine, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and ten rebounds.
