Recap: Riverview Raiders vs. Apollo Ridge Vikings
The Riverview Raiders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 39-21 win over Apollo Ridge. For Riverview, this counts as revenge for the 62-31 defeat Apollo Ridge walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Riverview was led to victory by Katerina Tsambis and Lola Abraham. Tsambis scored 16 points along with five rebounds, while Abraham scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Tsambis has scored at least 25% of Riverview's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliette Brun, who scored seven points.
Riverview pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Apollo Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverview will stay at home for another game and welcome Brentwood at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. Brentwood comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Apollo Ridge will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Shady Side Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Shady Side Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Apollo Ridge in Pennsylvania (Shady Side Academy is ranked 67th, while Apollo Ridge is ranked 305th).
