Basketball Recap: Franklin Beats Lincoln for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Franklin waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Lincoln Tigers as they made off with a 60-34 win. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 23 points or more this season.

Franklin had a senior duo take command as Jaelyn Campos posted 18 points and Gisele Gonzalez put up 15 points. That's the most points Gonzalez has posted since back in November of 2023.

Lincoln's loss came despite strong showings from Leanna Ontiveros and Leqi 'Maggie' Zhen. Ontiveros scored 13 points along with five boards and four steals, while Zhen earned 17 points and six steals. Zhen's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Maggie Alvarado also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Franklin's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.2 points over those games. As for Lincoln, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Franklin has already played their next contest, a 49-18 win against Bravo on the 10th. As for Lincoln, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 40-36 victory against Wilson on the 10th.
