Basketball Game Preview: Dunsmuir Tigers vs. Surprise Valley Hornets

Dunsmuir hasn't had much luck against Surprise Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dunsmuir Tigers will challenge the Surprise Valley Hornets at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Dunsmuir is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They were dealt a 52-18 defeat at the hands of Big Valley.

The losing side was boosted by Cyla Clemens, who posted 11 points. That was a full 61.1% of Dunsmuir's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Holland, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, Surprise Valley played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Burney, falling 54-26. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Dunsmuir will have to keep a close watch on Emma Harris and Gennasys Fernandez, a pair of players who had a big impact on Surprise Valley's prior game. Harris had 12 points, while Fernandez put up eight points. The dominant performance gave Harris a new career-high in points.

Surprise Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Dunsmuir, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Dunsmuir came out on top in a nail-biter against Surprise Valley in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 45-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dunsmuir since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
